Family and friends gathered on the morning of June 22 to celebrate the youngest members of the Breakthrough family – the Beginners! During the end of the year celebration, staff and the preschoolers reflected on the 2023 school year with awards and performances.
The Breakthrough Beginners preschool program equips students with the education and skills necessary for success in kindergarten and beyond. The program offers full-day preschool, with care before and after the program to accommodate the schedules of working parents.
During the celebration, Kimberly Sankey, director of the program, said, “There’s been laughter, there’s been accomplishments, there’s been discoveries. It has truly been a fun year.”
Kimberly also acknowledged Breakthrough’s partnership with the families of students. “We moved though this year as a team,” she said. She captured this in a quote from Hellen Keller: “Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.”
Finally, the Beginners program said goodbye to the students going on to kindergarten in the fall. Breakthrough emphasizes a smooth transition from preschool to kindergarten through parent partnerships and collaboration with local schools. Last year, 100 percent of exiting students were kindergarten ready.
Breakthrough is grateful to families and our staff for all they do to help students thrive all year long. Click here to view more photos from the party.
