Meal Group Leader (Manna Ministry)
Daily | All Mealtimes
Coordinate a group to provide a meal to our guests experiencing homelessness. Meals can be catered, prepared at home and delivered, or prepared and served on-site at either our Men’s Center or Women’s Center. If you would like to serve or cater a meal, click the link below to request a date.

Delivery opportunities available, 1st Saturday, must have a vehicle (max 4 people) and in market opportunities every Saturday (max 5 people)

Men’s & Women’s Community Outings
Plan, provide and facilitate memorable outings &cultural experiences with our participants that inspire relationship building. Such activities could include trips to museums, zoos, plays, restaurants, etc.
The ability to provide safe and reliable transportation for up to 15 guests is preferred.

Women’s Boutique
As a volunteer, you will help organize the boutique space, sort donations, and establish a rapport with our program participants to create a dignified shopping experience. Monday – Friday 10 – 2, or any time during the work week.
BREAKTHROUGH YOUTH NETWORK
Beginners (preschool):
Preschool Volunteer | Mon-Fri, 8:30am-Noon
Pick a day to work alongside 2-5 year old children and their teachers ensuring safety, learning and engagement through play.

Nettie Bailey Student Achievement Program:
After School Volunteer | Mon-Fri, 3:30pm-6:30pm
Pick a day to work alongside students in grades K-8 with academic and enrichment activities.

Breakthrough Beyond (High School & Post-Secondary)
Teen Night | Thursdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Volunteers needed to help serve food and assist with recreational activities
Mentoring (7th-12th) | Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30pm
Volunteer to support our youth in our boys and girls mentoring program, where you build relationships as a mentor.

Sports & Fitness Academy
Help assist with one of the following:
Rock Climbing (7th-12th): Tuesdays, 5-7pm
Basketball Leagues
- (2nd-3rd): Mondays, 5-6:30pm
- (ages 8-10): Saturdays, 9-10:30am
- (ages 11-12): Saturdays, 10:30am-12pm
- (ages 13-14): Saturdays, 12pm-2pm

Garden Care
Daily | Daytime and Evening Hours
Assist a team of gardeners to grow and harvest produce for our kitchens and neighborhood.
Greater Chicago Food Depository
Daily | Daytime Hours
Help Breakthrough earn food credit by sorting food, repacking food, labeling and gathering donations. Register at chicagosfoodbank.org/volunteer and indicate Breakthrough affiliation on the application.
Cleaning and Organizing
Join us in cleaning, storing, and organizing our West Wing Storage facility. Throughout the Pandemic, we have received a generous amount of donations for our community residents. We are looking for a group of 10 participants to join us in the effort of organizing this space. For specific details on needs and dates of availability, please contact us.
