The Breakthrough Youth Network paired up with the Chicago Arts and Music Project to host the first Winter Jamboree Orchestra Concert at the Breakthrough FamilyPlex on December 13.
The young musicians played holiday songs like “Jingle Bells” and debuted a special student-made composition.
Chicago Arts and Music Project is a free El Sistema orchestra program serving 3rd through 6th grade students from Chicago’s West Side. Each student receives a free instrument, three weekly rehearsals, and free weekly private lessons. CAMP’s mission is to create an atmosphere of creativity and inclusion for students of all ethnicities, beliefs, identities, and abilities.
If you would like to volunteer or get involved with the orchestra program at Breakthrough, please contact BYN Arts and Technology Associate Director Shalom Watts at swatts@nullbreakthrough.org.
